Community Services

As a Pennsylvania victim service organization and a recognized non-profit, AWARE, Inc. is committed to eliminating domestic, emotional, and sexual violence throughout Mercer County. This organization operates with limited staff who are dedicated to serving victims of all ages and their supporting family and friends. The staff also work outside the agency with all sectors and organization to eliminate the impact of these crimes upon life in Mercer county.

Volunteers are essential to advance the vision – Helping the Hurting to Heal and working with all to end all forms of abuse.

Ways you can help:

  1. Organizing a donation drive of items that our clients are in need of such as bedding, household products, gift cards, or one of our Holiday Donation programs.
  2. Volunteering your time during one of our “Done in a Day” project such as our spring clean-up day, donation organization at one of our sites, or ongoing facility maintenance.
  3. Event & fundraising volunteer.
  4. Content Specialist sharing your skills or professional knowledge with staff, volunteers, and clients.
  5. Community Awareness Volunteer by distribution of information and flyers, and attend community events such as a representative of the agency.**
  6. Survivors Speakers Bureau and share your story as a survivor of violence with community members and raise awareness of violence in our community.

These opportunities are also available for high school students attending a public or parochial school in Mercer County who are needing to complete required service hours.
